FEUDAL CASTLE OF LA ROCHE EN ARDENNE

- Address:
Rue du Vieux Château 4
6980 LA ROCHE-EN-ARDENNE - MAPS: Google Maps

Perched on the Deister rocky spur, this site has over time housed a Neolithic residence, a Roman, the house of the Kings of the Franks. Overhanging the city and the Ourthe, nestled in the middle of nature, it truly makes La Roche "The pearl of the Ardennes". Despite all the changes endured by the castle (excavations have brought new halls as well as remains from the 15th century to the surface), the actual ruins with their towers, arrow slits and oubliettes, have retained the feel of feudal times.
Closed in case of snow and ice, on 01/01, 13 and 14/03 (La Roche Carnival) and 25/12/2010.
Apparition of the ghost from 11 July to 22 August every day unless in case of rain and/or heavy wind.
Medieval activities during the season.
Guided tours for groups only by reservation in FR, NL.
Free info brochure at the entrance (€ 0.50).
