Created in 1840, Liège Botanical Garden is home to exotic collections, nestled in Victorian style greenhouses. This glass and metal architecture, rare in the city, is now listed and protected. Take the time to enjoy its tree planted park too.

The greenhouses

  • Nearly 5,000 plants over 1,050 m²: carnivorous, tropical (banana, cacao, vanilla...), succulents... Many come from varieties planted here in the 19th century.
  • Selection of medicinal plants in the little garden by the greenhouses
  • On the south oriented walls, warmth-loving plants such as kiwi, persimmon, fig trees...

The park

  • 3 hectares wide, it counts 170 different species of trees, making it one of the most interesting collection in Belgium: elms from Japan, lime trees from Holland, Judas trees...
  • See the 15 champions of the park, planted between 1841 and 1854, as old as the garden itself

The pond

  • Varied fauna: ducks, birds, small mammals...
  • Cypresses from Louisiana
