AUGUST 15 FESTIVAL AT OUTREMEUSE

AUGUST 15 FESTIVAL AT OUTREMEUSE
© OT Ath - J.Flament

This festival is one of the liveliest and most vibrant in the Liège region.

With flea markets, puppet shows, traditional dances, processions, outdoor masses with the sermons in Walloon, "campes" firing (large crackers arranged in rosaries), cortèges (with the giants from the Liège Province), popular games (greasy pole,...), concerts and a variety of other activities.

A large number of customs are brought back to life: culinary traditions (with food and drinks such as the pèckets and the boukètes) as well as old popular games. But that is not all. The end of the festivities on August 16th is highlighted by the "Burial of the Mati l'Ohé": a ludicrous burial accompanied by brass bands and despairing widows...
